The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

On paper it is what Brotato is — punishing difficulty, procedural generation and melee combat — though the resemblance is mostly at that level. To that it adds an isometric view and single-player focus. They part company on setting and tone: this one brings dark, oppressive atmosphere and horror setting.
It predates Brotato by 8 years, with what that implies technically.
